James' fight honored...
Our local Hospice contacted Jim and I and asked if they could write an article about James and his journey throughout his illness, and how Kids Path helped him. Jim and I were thrilled that they wanted to honor (and remember) James in such a special way!
This is the newsletter that was sent out to many people!
Also, please note the special "Thanks" to our church (page 9) for the books donated to the KP library!

First Birthday without you...

Today marks James' sixth Birthday, and his first one in Heaven. We had a party with family and very special friends who were all a part of James' life and he loved them all.
The pictures above are of the headstone that was placed at the grave site, as well as some pics from today's earthly celebration.
Hope you enjoyed them...

A song for the weary soul...
If you have come here after visiting James' caringbridge site then you know about this song. Just in case, here is a recap:
Becky Smith, mother to Sarah, a Neuroblastoma survivor (5 years post-transplant), has had some questionable areas show up on her mammograms and subsequesnt MRI's. She is an extremely talented woman, in both her singing abilities and her faith. She and her husband traveled for many years, singing Christian music, until Sarah was diagnosed in 2002. Her husband now pastors a church and she sang this song last Sunday, before the congregation, and her own soul was wounded and weary. Many gathered around her to pray, just as many prayed over James during his journey here.
Prayer is a powerful tool; one that comes freely. No elegant/eloquent speaking abilities are needed. We pray to our Father as we would speak to a Friend...
I wanted to share with you all the beautiful song that she sang. It has some amazing words, and rings so true...
Lyrics: Sue Smith New Spring (ASCAP) / CCTB Music (ASCAP). Melody and Piano Accompaniment: Kevin Stokes Songs from The Basement (BMI) Used by permission.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
When James was born, I would sing lots of little kid songs to him; songs like "Jesus Loves Me", "Jesus Loves the Little Children", "I'm in the Lord's Army" and so on...My mom's favorite movie is Wizard of Oz... and we all can at least hum the tune of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I looked up the lyrics on the internet, and learned most of them, and decided that would be another song to sing to him...
When Jim and I were in Maui in October, he was standing on the lanai (porch) and a bird came out of no where... the bird acted kind of eratic, and stopped right in front of Jim (we were on the 9th floor, too). Anyway, the bird then took off really fast and flew opposite of the ocean view. Jim turned to see where the bird went, and saw this beautiful view
Well, being we were in Hawaii, I remembered one of my many favs... and, it is sung by a native Hawaiian, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Many of you may remember this version from a great movie: 50 First Dates.
So, please click on this video clip and think to yourself, What A Wonderful World...
ps I have not forgotten about pics of all our nieces and nephews with James ... project is still in the works!
